AHA Instructor Course Registration
Thank you for your interest in the American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor Course with Emergent Education LLC an AHA Training Site. We are committed to upholding the AHA standards of excellence in community and professional education. We offer instructor courses in BLS, Heartsaver, ACLS, PALS, and PEARS.
Below are all the steps involved in becoming an American Heart Association Instructor. Please read this in its entirety. Becoming an AHA Instructor is not meant to be a quick and easy process, there are several steps involved and all are set in place to gauge your commitment level and ability to follow instruction. Teaching lifesaving skills to the public is a large responsibility that is taken very seriously by the American Heart Association, myself and my fellow Instructors.
Prerequisites
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have a current AHA Provider card in the discipline you wish to become an instructor for (only AHA certifications accepted)
- Demonstrate mastery in the skills for the disciplines selected
- ** Required Skills Mastery for BLS and Heartsaver** (must be correctly demonstrated during the Instructor course). 1 and 2-rescuer Adult BLS, Use of Bag-valve mask, Use of Pocket mask, Use of AED, 1 and 2-rescuer Infant BLS, Lay rescuer Adult, Child and Infant CPR/AED (Heartsaver CPR), Removing Gloves (Heartsaver First Aid), Finding the Problem (Heartsaver First Aid), Using an Epinephrine Pen (Heartsaver First Aid),Stopping Bleeding and Bandaging (Heartsaver First Aid)
The American Heart Association Instructor Course will allow the participant to teach all American Heart Association level certification classes in their perspective disciplines.
In addition to the steps below, all participants must possess a valid AHA Provider certification card. Once all steps are successfully completed, the participant will become an American Heart Association Instructor and able to conduct classes on their own.
Step 1:
- Download AHA Instructor application from our website, complete the first two portions and sign the Instructor Commitment section.
- Send this application to jtolliver@emergenteducationva.com so I may complete the TC Alignment section. If you already have a TC that you want to affiliate with please have them sign this section. I must have an authorized signature in the TC Alignment section, I can’t go any further with registration until this has been signed.
- Have your most recent AHA Instructor fill out the Instructor Potential section, if available, (this part can be done by us if your previous instructor is not available).
- Send resume and/or curriculum vitae along with completed instructor candidate application.
$350.00 is the cost of the class instruction ONLY.
$350.00— pays for Course Instruction and Teachback/Administrative Practice. Instructor Online Essentials, AHA Instructor videos and manuals, teaching equipment (manikins, bag masks, pocket masks, one way valves, Instructor Manual, and instructor eCard) need to be purchased separately and are not included.

First Aid required skills testing materials (Epipen trainers and First Aid Training Kits—include gauze pads, rolled gauze and pair of vinyl gloves)— can be purchased as Add-ons.
Step 2:
Instructor Course
This experience helps prepare you to succeed as an American Heart Association instructor. The class will be held at 139 West Main Street, Suite 2, Saltville VA 24370.

Instructors will use our online roster management program, Enrollware, to input all documents required for each class they teach. Cards can only be ordered through the AHA Training Site the Instructor is affiliated/aligned with. There are very specific policies on ordering cards, this will be reviewed during the instructor course.
Upon the successful completion of the prerequisites, the Instructor Course and class monitoring, you will receive your AHA Instructor card in the respective disciplines. Yearly dues, biennial instructor renewal, and AHA material update (every 5years)— are required to maintain instructor status.
Registration will open at the next available course.
The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.
